MANGALURU: A BJP leader from Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada has moved a private complaint in the court against Congress MP D K Suresh for his statement of ‘separate south nation’.
In a complaint filed before the Second JMFC Court in Mangaluru, Vikas P has stated that D K Suresh, who is the brother of deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar, has made a provocative and anti-national statement. Vikas, in the complaint filed through advocate Mohan Raj K R, has stated that he saw D K Suresh’s reactions to the Budget presented by Nirmala Sitharaman on news channels on Thursday.
“D K Suresh has made a provocative and anti-national statement to the entire nation through a press conference that would instigate the separatist mentality as he has suggested - ‘we may have to demand a separate nationhood’. Such a statement seems to be an instigation for anti-nationals, terrorists, and separatists, who hatch the conspiracy of breaking the nation. MP D K Suresh seems to have made the statement in a way that it attracts the sedition law. His statement has hurt a large number of nationalists in the country,” stated Vikas, who is the former state co-spokesperson of the BJP.
Vikas added that the MP has committed an offence under Section 124A of the IPC by making such a statement. He also pleaded the court to issue a direction to the Mangaluru North police to investigate.
Advocate Mohan Raj said that the court has allowed the complaint, and the same will be put up for hearing on Feb 7.
